Landfall
It's 11:15 PM EDT, September 4th, and Frances has not-so-daintily stepped ashore. This thing is so big and so slow, it'll take another 12 hours for the opposite (eastern) eyewall to hit the shore. In that time, Frances will batter Florida's East coast with 105 MPH winds, and dump torrential rains.
Hopefully there aren't many people staying between West Palm Beach and Vero Beach, where Frances came in. I hear that this was the largest evacuation in Florida's history, and hotel rooms along the Interstates (75 and 95) are filled well into Georgia (Atlanta in the case of I-75). Let's hope that those who were forced to remain in the area fare well.
