Playing hooky

Sometimes it's nice to skip work. Okay, I know that this isn't exactly an earth shattering revelation, but sometimes things turn out better than you planned.
The plan:
I spent the morning touring a computing facility at a nearby university (I'm a computer geek - I've been told it's okay for me to like this sort of thing). I'm not gonna wax rhapsodic over it, but suffice it to say their computing equipment is hella cool. (sorry for the NorCal adjective; maybe I've taken one too many trips there)
Bonus #1:
Coincidentally, the school is close to my favorite BBQ spot in town, so I had to stop there on the way home.
Bonus #2:
This afternoon, I was contacted out of the blue by a former employer to see if I was interested in a consulting gig. Don't know if I'll take it, but it's nice to know they still care.
