On the run

My parents and sister rode out Hurricane Charley 10-15 miles above the eye. A few trees downed, but no other real damage. Hurricane Frances missed them by a much wider margin, and was weaker - they caught winds of only 35-40 MPH. Now Ivan, a Category 4 whopper has decimated Grenada and is pounding Jamaica. Projections have Ivan coming into the Gulf of Mexico, then heading who-knows-where. Several equally plausible theories have it heading north, northeast, or due east. My parents and sister don't want to push their luck. They leave for Georgia at 4:00 AM tomorrow.

As for me, I got back from Berkeley today. They were having a heat wave over there (though the Bay Area definition of a heat wave differs significantly from mine) - mid-80's during the day. Today, the fog rolled into the bay, dropping the temperature to a very comfortable 77.
