Inverter

The rain finally let up, and we were able to get the inverter installed. As you can see in the picture here, the inverter is basically a big heat sink with a box attached. Okay, maybe it's a little more complicated than that. What's inside the box is a big coil about the diameter of a car's steering wheel. The purpose of the coil (along with an attendant circuit board) is to convert DC power from the solar array into high voltage AC power. While it's doing this, it generates more than a little heat: the manual warns of heat sink temperatures exceeding 158°!
