[Dumpster] Diving For Dollars

Northwest Airlines is going bankrupt, but through it all, management is still there to help the ground workers. Northwest will be slashing jobs, but they've helpfully provided 101 Ways To Save Money: a booklet with money-saving tips for the soon-to-be-jobless:

• Shop in thrift stores


• Take "a date for a walk along the beach or in the woods"


• Don't be "shy about pulling something you like out of the trash"


• Ask doctors prescription-drug samples


• Borrow a dress for a "big night out"


• Give children hand-me-down toys and clothes


• Try not to spend more than $900 for a bottle if wine at dinner (Oh, sorry, that's from the money-saving hadbook given to executives)

But seriously, other than the garbage picking, lots of the rank-and-file were probably doing some of these things anyway - Northwest ain't known for its generosity when it comes to their non-managerial employees. Whatever genius came up with this bright idea for adding insult to injury ought to be canned - without their generous severance package.
