Don't believe everything you see

Reports continue to come in from Charlotte county and the surrounding areas where Charley hit the hardest. I'm just so thankful that family & friends I've spoken to are OK. The two brothers Bush (Jeb the governor and George the president) flew over the affected areas and made some stops. I think it's important. I'm definitely not a Bushie, but at least George Jr. showed up. I was living on the east coast of Florida when Andrew hit in '92, and his father was conspicuous in his absence.

Oh, about the title, "Don't believe everything you see": if you're not from Florida, or aren't familiar with the west coast, the names Port Charlotte, El Jobean, Arcadia, etc. probably don't create any imagery for you other than what you see on the news. And what do you see on the news? Mobile home after mobile home, all destroyed. Take it from someone who grew up in Port Charlotte: there are houses there, just like everyplace else in the country. I'm not sure what fascination trailers hold for the media, but believe it or not, there are buildings and houses in that part of Florida made of wood and concrete. Perhaps a flattened mobile home park looks more impressive than a damaged subdivision of non-manufactured homes.
Whatever imagery stays with you, the residents of the affected areas (in homes mobile or otherwise) still need our thoughts, prayers, and help.
